Orchard House opened in September 1993 and is a member of the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools, a constituent of the Independent Schools Council). It has two sister schools, Bassett House School (founded in 1947) in Kensington and Prospect House (founded in 1991) in Putney, both of which, like Orchard House, take boys and girls from the age of 3 or 4 until the time they leave for their senior or, in some cases, intermediate preparatory schools.
In the current academic year, Orchard House has some 265 pupils in fifteen classes.
Orchard House pupils enjoy coming to school and take full advantage of a broad based curriculum as well as numerous extra curricular activities. Our aim is for all pupils to be happy and fulfilled so they may reach their potential across all areas of the curriculum thereby becoming confident, creative and independent learners. Teaching is supportive yet challenging and always takes into account the individual needs of the children. We also strive to develop self-respect along with a strong sense of moral values so that our pupils can become responsible and involved members of society. Underpinning all aspects of school life is an ethos which shows mutual respect and concern for all members of the school community and fosters close relationships between school and home.
A detailed statement of the school's Aims and Ethos policy is available on request.
The chairman of the governing body is Mr Anthony Rentoul. His address is 25 Strawberry Hill Road, Twickenham TW1 4PZ.
