I really enjoyed it and tried my hardest because I knew it was going to be my last Sports Day at OHS. I came third in high jump but I don't think that's a bad thing - I think it was good that I got at least one medal. Unfortunately, I was feeling bad for the rest of the day because I hurt two people in ‘Rob the Nest’! It was a Sports Day to remember for both good and bad reasons!

Omojola Ogundipe

Sports Day was last week and it was so much fun! Luckily it didn't rain and everyone had a good time. The house relay was very close but Shaw finally won it in the end! My favorite event was High Jump because it was hard but you felt so happy when you got over the bar!

Grace Curtis

It was great fun. Orchard house competed in all seven events including the 100m, 200m, 800m, high jump, long jump, cricket ball throw and the 400m relay. There was a team of 4 or 5 people from each year group from year 3 upwards. The sun was shining brightly, making it the perfect event. Competition was fierce but Orchard hOUSE managed to win some medals.

--Jasmine Coulson

Holly, Hannah, jasmine, sophia and I were chosen to represent UV in the Falkner house athletics meeting. My first event was the cricket ball throw. Sophia, emma, Miranda and I were chosen to participate. Everyone did really well and threw the ball really far, but I did not DO so well! My second event was the 400m relay. Hannah went first, then jasmine, then me, then holly. We came 3rd in the relay. I had a really fun afternoon and was glad that everyone did so well!

--India Laidlaw

the 4th of june some girls from the upper school went to falkner house athletics championships. There were seven schools competing and each girl from every school was allowed to take part in two track events (100m, 200m, 800m, or the relay) and one field event (rounders ball throw, long jump or high jump). The standard was very high, but it didn’t stop us from really enjoying it. The support was really encouraging, especially in the running events because when you are running it feEls really nice to have your friends and family cheering for you. It really gave us and extra boost and we all did our absolute best. It was really good fun.

--Sophia BRZESKWInSKI

Tennis coaches from all over middlesex put forward their best players. The best 16 girls born in 2000 and 2001 are picked for the 1d day.

tHE 1D DAY for the girls is on the saturday and the 1d day for boys is on the sunday. But actually we had 15 girls and one boy because he got the day wrong.

On the day all of the girls are assessed for how sporty they are, how good they are at playing tennis and how competitive they are.

after the warm-up we had the athletics test. we had to do a timed race, a standing jump, a tennis ball throw and an agility test. For the agility test we had to run with a tennis ball from one cone and put it on another cone eight feet away without it falling out of our hands and then repeat with another ball while being timed.

we then played tennis. we had to play against other coaches to practice forehands and backhands. We the played against another coach who did deep shots followed by shots at the net which made you run. We also had to play some quick matches against each other.

It was very tiring because you had to concentrate on what you were told to do. I also got hit in the head with a tennis racket while we were waiting in the queue. It hurt but I was alright.

Afterwards they send you and your coach a report on how you did. My coach had been working very hard to prepare me for the day. She is pregnant and will have to stop caching me soon. I really wanted to do well for her.

--Madeline symes 3f

Darling) ‘Rosie was really good, I thought she was my real mummy!” from Ruby and emilie (wendy).

We all felt really scared at first but when we started performing we felt a lot better (or at least I did)! We were spilt in two groups. One group made their smoothies first and the other group made their packaging designs. My pair was first for making our smoothies. It was very fun.

--Yasmin Anwer

The week before we made our smoothies we set out what ingredients we would need. I thought it was good because nobody made the same smoothie, so we got loads of variety and lots of nice tasting. We got to use kitchen utensils such as sharp knives and the blender. Our smoothie-making project made us all feel like adults.

--Suzanne Singer

The week before we had to prepare our recipe. Mrs Harrington told us all about which fruits to choose and what fruits would make our smoothies thicker. We went on a couple of websites to find out what names would be suitable for our smoothies. We never knew that DT would involve so much fruit!!

--Lydia Willcocks
