EARLY YEARS Nativities

The Christmas spirit has arrived at Orchard House this week. Parents, grandparents and family friends enjoyed performances of ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ by the children in the Den and of ‘A Wriggly Nativity’ by the children in Lower 1. For those who were not able to attend the nativities, please login to the secure area of the website to access a recording of the Den and Lower 1 nativities.

FORM 2 Science lessons

In science lessons the children have been learning about liquids and solids and the transformation between the two. Miss Ghaddab writes, “We know cream comes from cows and is therefore a dairy product, but when we mixed it for a long time, we also found out that cream has lots of fat in it! The cream separated into buttermilk and butter”. The children spread the butter onto crackers and enjoyed tasting it.

House news

Competition between the four houses (De Morgan, Godwin, Hogarth and Shaw) is hotting up with eight ‘house’ awards up for grabs this term.

In ICT lessons a house touch typing competition has been taking place for children in Forms 3 and above. Next Monday the Form 1 and 2 house cake decorating competition will take place. Entries are still welcome for the Form 3-6 Christmas bauble competition and the Form 1 and 2 Christmas hat competitions. Inter-house netball and football tournaments are scheduled for games lessons next week and there is still time for children to win points for their house to have a chance of winning the ‘smartest house’ and ‘overall house points’ awards.

The results of the house competitions will be announced in the final assembly of term on Wednesday 13 December.
