The Early Years provision at Orchard House was identified as a particular strength during our recent ISI inspection, in June 2025:
- “Children in the early years thrive due to a well-structured curriculum and stimulating environment, which balances academic and social development. Adults model language effectively and support children’s social and emotional growth. Children learn to co-operate, take turns and explore new ideas with increasing confidence. They are well prepared for the next stage of education.”
- “In the early years, children explore ideas through role play, art and music, and learn to express their preferences and show empathy. This lays the foundation for increasing self-knowledge and confidence as they move through the school. Pupils participate in assemblies and themed events that promote respect for diverse beliefs, including the celebration of religious and cultural festivals. Staff reinforce a culture in which pupils express opinions and learn to recognise their achievements and develop self-esteem.”

Rupert Road: A Bright Start for Early Learners
Our spacious and innovative Early Years school provides a safe, dynamic home for our Nursery and Reception classes.
This bright, purpose-built space is designed to inspire both physical and academic growth, with large classrooms, a dedicated kitchen, a reading room, and a large outdoor play area — including a brand-new adventure playground.
Children also enjoy access to our excellent sports facilities at Rocks Lane.
Through lessons in our Performing Arts Centre at the Church, specialist teachers introduce pupils to music and drama, giving every child the chance to perform for parents each year.
In our Innovation Hub, children explore exciting scientific ideas in a creative, hands-on environment. They also begin their journey into the world of coding and technology in our high-spec Computing and Coding Suite.
We are incredibly impressed with the exceptional Orchard House Nursery staff who have looked after our daughter. From day one, they have shown genuine care, patience and understanding.
